Affirmations, are you doing it wrong?
I love affirmations and I also recognize there are ways to use them that can actually help! This weeks episode on the podcast I talk about Affirmations and how you can use them to benefit your life and find a deeper connection with your inner self, as well as focus on your goals!
The biggest thing about Affirmations is feeling, how do you feel as you're saying them? Does it feel constricting or expansive? This matters, you cannot fake it. If you don't believe the affirmation you won't stick with it and it won't be of benefit to you.
An affirmation is really about changing your state. A short statement that brings you back into alignment and truth. So if you're staring at yourself in the mirror and you start saying, I love everything about my body and you start tensing up or start feeling yucky, you're not going to get the positive effects of the Affirmation, and it son't feel empowering. Instead start with something you can believe, I am so grateful my body gave me two children, I am so grateful my legs can carry me through the day. Feel into the affirmation, it's not just about the words but how they make you feel.
Once you have an affirmation that feels good, you can add to it or change it and the more confident you will become! Build on them:) Have fun with it.
